3 Steps To Gaining Powerful Visibility In Business (It's not going viral on social media)

Visibility does not = going viral on social media.

We all need visibility when running brands and businesses.

That is an unavoidable truth.

But a lot of folks who I have spoken with believe that their visibility is reliant on a large following and / or going viral with content marketing.

HERE ARE THE 3 THINGS THAT WE RECOMMEND TO GET MORE STRATEGIC WITH VISIBILITY:

1. Focus on learning and applying ( or hiring ) for multiple routes to your lead generation strategy. A healthy flow of leads is always important.

2. Use each media platform that you use in your content marketing to find ideal people to go on podcasts and summits with. Engage with individuals who have audience sharing platforms, not just people who you think will buy from you. The influences have the customers find ways to get in front of them.

3. Invest $. Get on the ground floor of exciting start-ups, invest in education experiences, masterminds, and coaches and get into their circles. When you are surrounded by other investors, this is prime visibility.

Besides those tips the very best way to get above the traffic is to actually directly bring traffic to a closed FB group or other online community. Learn how to build a FB group from scratch here.

Before we knew those 3 powerful things and before we started applying those things regularly we thought that virality and content impact would attract in the right people just because we made big splashes.

But here is what you should also know about virality….

- Virality sets your account up for skewed data, especially if you are not always going viral. We want to observe trends with our data to make the best decisions, and we can't if the data is skewed.

-Virality is good for acute brand awareness but it does not necessarily lead to conversion, which in business is the point.

-Focusing on building following and viral content can take a lot of energy that might distract you from more important tasks to be prioritizing especially if in start up or building phase (not at desired revenue or impact goals).

And then there is that thing called the algorithm…..

The larger the following, the LESS the content is actually seen. This is because of the smaller following prioritization in the algorithm. Not a lot of people know this.

Vanity metrics really influence us to look at our content marketing all wrong, but it is okay! Just focus in on real relationships first and use those three steps that we shared to really leverage your presence.
